YG Addresses Fistfight With DJ Mustard And Grammy Snub
After ending 2014 a contentious exchange via each other’s Instagram accounts, things are all good between YG and frequent collaborator DJ Mustard. According to YG, Mustard’s assertion that a ‘heads up’ cleared out any animosity between the hit making pair is indeed true. The Compton rapper appeared on Hot 97 with Ebro Darden and Laura Stylez Friday night, and said he and DJ Mustard patched up their friendship with some hand-to-hand combat.
‘We met up and did our little thing,’ YG told Darden and Stylez. ‘It was a family fade. We do it all the time…we’re punching in the face. Me and the homie fought, we got it over with, and we’re homies. We’re gonna stay homies, and this ain’t the first time.’
The pair’s collective work resulted in YG’s My Krazy Life album selling over 200,000 copies, including the Billboard hit singles ‘Who Do You Love?” and ‘My Hitta.’ Desite the commercial success and critical acclaim, YG wasn’t nominated for a GRAMMY. It’s a snub he’s not particularly pleased about.
‘It’s bull, though,’ YG said. ‘On my next album, I’m gonna get nominated. I was hot for like four days. I was turned down, but I’m over it though.’
The rest of the interview, including YG’s thoughts on becoming a father, can be viewed on Hot 97’s YouTube page.
