B.B. King will be laid to rest next week in his hometown of Indianola, Mississippi, according to Billboard.

The publication reports that King’s body will be flown to Memphis, Tennessee where organizers are gearing up for a musical tribute to the legendary blues singer. The event is scheduled to take place at 11 am next Wednesday (May 27) in W. C. Handy Park on Beale Street.

Subsequently, B.B. King’s body will be driven to Indianola, Mississippi, the place that he largely considered his hometown.

A public viewing will be held from 10 am to 5 pm on May 29 at the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola. The following day (May 30), King’s funeral will take place at the nearby Bell Grove Baptist Church. It is reported that he will be buried later that day in a private ceremony at the museum.

“From a practical standpoint, we feel comfortable knowing his final resting place will receive perpetual care at the museum,” said the facility’s director, Dion Brown.

In addition, a public viewing for B.B. King will be held at the Palm Mortuary West in Las Vegas this coming Friday (May 22). It’s reported that there won’t be a memorial service during the viewing, which is scheduled to take place between 3 and 7 pm, but people will still be able to see King’s open casket.
