While performers were bringing down the house from the inside, some out-of-hand concert-goers drew a fast reaction from police outside of Hot 97’s Summer Jam at MetLife earlier tonight.
According to Asbury Park Press, members of a crowd outside of MetLife threw bottles at police when they learned that the gates to the annual concert had been closed. State police officers reportedly withdrew behind the gates before an armored vehicle dispersed tear gas on the crowd. The APP reports that the state police’s vehicle fired another round of gas on the crowd and that at least one arrest was made by police in riot gear. A spokesperson for the police reported that back-up “crowd control” officers were sent to the scene in response to the incident.
New York Times writer Jon Caramanica reports that a representative for the concert announced that the show would go on as scheduled.
