Nate Parker‘s The Birth Of A Nation was one of the most highly anticipated  movies to be previewed at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

The groundbreaking film is set to hit theaters on Oct. 7, but the living poster was just released. The brief video features Parker’s character sharing inspiring words with other enslaved men.

Brothers, we’ve been chosen. The Lord has spoken to me:  visions of what’s to come. A rise of good against evil. The first shall be last, the last shall be first. Stand with us. Stand with us,” he tells them.

The camera then pans out to show the band of brothers painted in red and forming the American flag. The film aims to tell a much deeper story about slave rebellion than what is found in the chapters of history books.

Fox Searchlight has quite a bit of confidence in the film and purchased its rights for $17.5 million.
