Grey’s Anatomy producer Shonda Rhimes had a few words to say about that anti-Jesse Williams petition.

“Um, people? Boo don’t need a petition,” Rhimes tweeted Monday (July 4).

The comment comes after a petition created by a woman named Erin Smith went live this weekend. Smith wanted to gather support to have Williams removed from his ABC show Grey’s Anatomy.

“If this was a white person making the same speech about an African-American, they would have been fired and globally chastised, as they should be, but there has been no consequences to Williams’ actions,” Smith said. “There’s been no companies making a stand against his racist remarks and no swift action condemning his negative attitude. Why was Burke’s character fired from Grey’s Anatomy after his inappropriate homophobic slur, but nothing for Jesse Williams? Why the one-way street? Why the support for a hater? Why the hypocrisy? #AllLivesMatter All humans bleed the same color. #EqualConsequences4RacistBehavior.”

It doesn’t look like Dr. Jackson Avery is going anywhere any time soon. Rhimes tweeted her support for William’s on June 28 following his BET Awards speech:

As of Tuesday morning (July 5), 4,665 supporters have signed the petition.
