There’s trouble brewing for NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s charity Skyhook Foundation. According to a new lawsuit, the charity organization is just a front to steal cash from unsuspecting people and put in the pockets of the foundation’s board members.

A company by the name of Julien’s Auctions closed a deal with the Abdul-Jabbar’s charity to sell the NBA Hall of Famer’s sports memorabilia including championship rings, jerseys, and things of that nature. Kareem Adbul-Jabbar’s manager and friend of many years Deborah Morales was the person in charge of negotiating the deal with Julien’s Auctions. As part of the deal, Julien’s Auctions was to donate three hundred thousand dollars to the legend’s Skyhook Foundation.

Julien’s is alleging that after they donated the money, they found out the foundation had no intent on using the $300,000 for the charity because the charity is really just a fraudulent foundation used to keep a steady flow of money in the bank accounts of the board members. Julien’s Auctions is asking for Deborah Morales to return their donation along with punitive damages.

It must be noted that while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s charity is mentioned in the suit, Abdul-Jabbar is not listed as a defendant. Nobody from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s camp has made any comment regarding the lawsuit.
