Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation Sports recently acquired quarterback  Geno Smith as a client, however the NFL is allegedly investigating if Jay violated league rules regarding the recruitment of Smith, the New York Jets draft pick .

According to TMZ, Roc Nation Sports signed Smith earlier this week and a photo of Smith with Jay-Z was posted to Instagram prior to the announcement. What’s the big deal with that you ask? The league rules mandate that;

“Only NFLPA-certified agents may be involved in the recruitment of clients.”

Another problem is that Smith’s adviser, John Thornton, was quoted recently as saying  that he was in meetings with Smith and Jay-Z, but later said he was misquoted.

It’s still not known what the NFL will do if it finds wrongdoing by Jay-Z’s camp.
