Looks like DMX will not have to go right back to jail…at least for now.

An Arizona judge on Monday sentenced the rapper to probation for allegedly throwing a food tray at a detention officer during his recent stay at a Phoenix jail.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, will spend 18 months on supervised probation for the jailhouse altercation under the ruling by Judge Robert Gottsfield in Maricopa County Superior Court, reports the Associated Press. He is also required to attend counseling.

The artist pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault on May 22. Eight days earlier, he was released from the jail after serving 90 days on drug, theft and animal abuse charges.

In May 2008, the 38-year-old was arrested on drug and animal cruelty charges after sheriff’s deputies raided his home and found dog carcasses and malnourished pit bulls.
