According to TMZ, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper is taking a leave from the team that he has represented for the last 3 years.

A rep for the Eagles said,

“Riley Cooper will be seeking counseling and we have excused him from all team activities. Riley needs to understand how his racist threats to fight every n***er at the Kenny Chesney concert are hurtful.”

There is no word on if Cooper will be asked to come back to play for the season. We can’t imagine any other team would be too keen on dealing with him just yet either.

Of the situation Cooper said,

“The organization and my teammates have been extremely supportive, but I also realize that there are people who will have a tough time forgiving me for what I’ve done. The best thing for me, and for the team, is to step away for a period of time.”

In other words they are worried about what may happen to this guy! As we said earlier there is nothing like a missed block to get someone’s attention. The locker room is reportedly divided with some feeling like Riley deserves another chance but others feeling justifiably upset with Cooper. Check out what his team mate LeSean McCoy had to say about it below.
