Three is an unlucky number for rapper Da Brat. After serving three years behind bars for beating an NFL cheerleader in an Atlanta nightclub in 2007, the SoSo Def wordsmith has been ordered to pay her victim more than three million dollars in the civil lawsuit.
Shayla Stevens, a former Atlanta Falcons cheerleader, hit Da Brat with a multi-million dollar lawsuit in 2009 stemming from the 2007 nightclub assault. Da Brat plead guilty to aggravated assault and was serving her three year sentence when she was made aware of the lawsuit.
The civil trial went to the jury and they came back with their judgement faster than Busta Rhymes was rapping on “Look At Me Now.” The jury found Da Brat responsible for the permanent facial scarring, severe mental pain, and neurological impairment of Stevens and ordered her to pay Stevens $6.4 million dollars in damages.
