TheUrbanDaily is proud to announce sponsorship and participation in the MVMT50 project at SXSW Interactive conference this year.

Formerly known as Blacks In Tech, MVMT50 is a program of panels, workshops, and mentorship connections geared at advancing technology companies run by people of color. We all know how tech savvy we are, but it’s definitely time to up the ante in terms of running companies and launching products of our own.

We’re excited to be a part of this effort and welcome any of you attending SXSW to join us on Saturday, March 8 for a live 1:1 chat hosted by our sister site HelloBeautiful, followed by a TUD hosted cocktail networking reception.

Movement 50 (MVMT50) Expands Offerings During SXSW

SXSW Interactive celebrates contributions from tech leaders of color

Movement 50 (formerly Blacks in Technology @ SXSW), a coalition of African-American and people of color in technology organizations proudly shares its program schedule during a 3-day block in Austin, Texas during SXSW 2014. This year, MVMT50 is proud to partner with EA Games, Lively, Moguldom Media Group, The Urban Daily, HelloBeautiful, The Grio, opportunity.UP,  Be The Match, Blogalicious, The Skool, Urban Socialista, and the Kapor Center for Social Impact as sponsors.

In addition to exciting sponsors, MVMT50 is excited to have media mogul, Nick Cannon, and actress/producer, Reagan Gomez-Preston on board to share their experiences in media during our One on One discussions at the Hilton Garden Inn.  One on One with Nick Cannon takes place Sunday, March 9th at 5PM. One on One with Reagan Gomez-Preston takes place Saturday, March 8th at 5PM.

MVMT50 is an initiative that grew out of a concern expressed by African-Americans living in Austin to promote more diversity during the SXSW conferences. In 2013, SXSW began hosting a Welcome Reception at the Carver Museum targeting local African Americans and leading into panels, discussions and events running from Friday, March 7th – Sunday, March 9th.
