As we previously reported, rapper Tyler The Creator was arrested last week in Austin, TX after allegedly causing a riot at the SXSW music festival.
Well, Tyler released a statement via his attorney to address his arrest.
Says Attorney Perry Q. Minton,
“At no time during the concert did Tyler seek to incite or participate in riotous activity as has been reported in the press. It is clear from video clips and witness reports that the patrons and fans attending the show on that date were full of positive energy appropriate for this type of event and never exhibited any anger or aggression whatsoever. For law enforcement or the media to describe the rush of fans through the gate and the subsequent benign, boisterous activity as a riot is an unfortunate and inaccurate description of what occurred. Tyler is not a violent individual and would never deliberately engage in any activity that would put another person at risk of being hurt.”
Hmmm…we’re pretty sure that whole issue with Tyler’s lyrics is going to get brought back up now because of what his attorney just said.
Last summer there seemed to be a few “problems” with Tyler in Australia. Tyler allegedly slandered and incited violence against a woman while he was on stage. This was a result of the woman reportedly trying to get him kicked out of the country.
People started calling his lyrics violent against women because he was saying things like,
“You dead b*tch, I’m hot as f*ck … Punch a b*tch in her mouth just for talkin’ sh*t”.
And those lyrics are pretty tame.
Word to the wise lawyers…when dealing in Hip Hop..never… ever claim anything about an artist that their own lyrics will refute. Tyler…please don’t let anyone speak on your behalf that doesn’t know your music kid…you’re being tried in Texas…not LA! Make these guys understand you need people who get what you do in your corner! They don’t play around down there!
