Has Trinidad James ever been arrested? Yes, Trinidad James has been arrested at least once, as he was nabbed for marijuana possession in February 2014. The arrest occurred in Batesville, Mississippi, where the rapper was busted for smoking weed at a Holiday Inn. The Mississippi drug arrest came just days after Trinidad James was living it up with Diddy, Justin Bieber, T.I., and others at an Atlanta club, and luckily, the incident won’t keep him from hanging with A-listers. As TMZ reports, Panola County prosecutors opted to drop the charges, and James was sent on his merry way.

Then again, as MTV reports, Trinidad James’ drug arrest wasn’t likely to result in any jail time, as weed possession in Mississippi is a misdemeanor, and as a first-time offender, James would have paid a fine somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 or $250. That would have been no problem for the MC, who’s reportedly worth $3 million following his deal with Def Jam. In 2012, the rising star signed a joint-venture deal to bring his Gold Gang Records imprint over to the label, and even though he’s yet to release a proper LP, Trinidad James is a big-name star with a big bank account to match.

Trinidad James’ 2014 drug arrest is the latest incident in what’s been a pretty eventful life. James was born Nicholas Williams on September 23, 1987, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and as a youngster, he suffered a blow to the head that left him unable to remember much of anything before the age of 7, as he told Complex. He later moved with his family to the States and settled in Atlanta, where he began rapping in 2011. Two mixtapes — “Don’t Be S.A.F.E” and “10 PC Mild” — later, Trinidad James is on the verge of becoming a hip-hop superstar, and when he drops his debut album, it could kick him up to the next level. Now he just has to stay out of trouble.
