The Wu-Tang Clan has officially called a cease fire on their reported infighting and reunited to perform on Jon Stewart’s“The Daily Show.”
Raekwon and RZA had been going back and forth in the press about completing the next Wu-Tang album, “A Better Tomorrow,” but the Chef and the Abbot joined GZA, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna to deliver renditions of new work “Ron O’Neal” and the classic 1997 track “Triumph.”
In the interview segment Stewart asked the group what was the biggest challenge in reuniting—creative, business or political.
“I would say it’s all of these things,” Raekwon responded. “Because we’re trailblazers in the music business. We’ve been around the world, we’re doing our job. I consider this a sport. So I think it’s important as an athlete of music to make sure that you have your business together, make sure you feel happy at whatever you want to do…at the end of the day that you have your i’s dotted and t’s crossed because we have families…”
“This is my life right here,” Ghostface added. “Me and the Abbott, this is my brother-in-law. We been tight since day one. I’m always with it….for the team, I’ll take one for the team.”
They also revealed that their next group album, “A Better Tomorrow,” would be released before Christmas.
“I think we’ve been blessed to have the same job for the past twenty years and not hurt nobody doin’ it,” Method Man said in conclusion. “As soon as we came together for one common cause we knew what were were doing was something different and great, and it showed and proved in the end.”
Meth then presented Daily with an ODB T-Shirt that he said he would sleep in. Watch the performance of “Ron O’Neal” and “Triumph” below:
