Bay Area Hip-Hop Artist The Jacka Killed in Oakland
Bay Area hip-hop artist and former Mob Figaz member The Jacka was shot and killed in Oakland, CA on Monday night. Reports stated that an unidentified suspect opened fire on the rapper and a group of men he was standing with, shooting him in the head.
A fixture in San Francisco’s rap community, the 37 year old Pittsburg, CA native born Dominic Newton had worked with the likes of E-40, Paul Wall, and Devin the Dude. Jacka’s music often told of the brutal realities of life on the streets, but rather than glamorizing crime and violence he used his platform to talk about the dangers associated with that lifestyle.
Fans and fellow artists took to Twitter to express their condolences and to pay tribute to Jacka.
