The Miami Heat are receiving what could be devastating news for the team’s 2014-2015 season. It appears Chris Bosh could be facing a career ending injury, a crushing blow for the squad that lost LeBron James before this season began when the star opted to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

According to ESPN and The Miami Herald, doctors are concerned that Bosh could have a blood clot in his lung that could cause him to miss the remainder of this season. However, the final tests and lab results are not in. Nevertheless, the prospect is a tough one to digest.

The team’s head coach, Erik Spoelstra, has said that this is all speculation right now.

“It’s too early for an ultimate diagnosis,” Spoelstra said. “I know there is a lot of speculation, a lot of rumors right now.”

This news comes as a particularly shocking headline following the tragic death of former NBA star Jerome Kersey, who died this week of a blood clot in his lung.

LeBron James has spoken about his former teammate to reporters.

“I texted Chris last night and, obviously, he probably doesn’t have his phone so I’m just waiting to hear back from him,” James explained. “I’m praying. My prayers is up. My hands is open and I’m wishing him the best. My fingers is crossed, for sure. Basketball is a small thing when it comes to health and people’s family. He’s so connected to me that I feel it, for sure. So every minute I’m checking to see if he’s OK.”

Bosh has been averaging over 21 points per game and 7 rebounds this season.

UPDATE: After being admitted a nearby hospital for blood clots on one of his lungs, the Miami Heat announced All-Star forward Chris Bosh will miss the remainder of the NBA season. The announcement was made Saturday, and Bosh thanked fans for their prayers and support.

“His health will be restored,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told ESPN. “That’s the most important thing. That’s bigger than basketball.”
