The Oscars were last night, and while we are still saddened Selma didn’t win for Best Picture, we’re still happy for John Legend and Common for taking one home for Best Original Song. Lady Gaga surprised everyone and performed a tribute to the musical The Sound of Music. Kristi Capel, a former Miss Missouri and current news anchor for Ohio’s Fox 8, was excited because the song showed Gaga’s range, but she explained that in the most racially insensitive way one could.

“It hard to really hear her voice with all of the jigaboo music, whatever you want to call it, jigaboo, you know?” Capel said. No, we don’t know.

Of course, viewers tweeted her their criticism and she “apologized” saying that she didn’t know it was a word.

She didn’t know it was a word, but she used it twice on air. And let’s not miss the irony in this tweet from her afterward about visiting the zoo on Juneteeth.

Hopefully – if she still has a job in TV once the chatter is over – she will think twice before she “makes up” words on air next time.
