With just a few months to go until Magic Mike XXL hits cinemas, new details have emerged regarding some familiar faces that fans can expect to see in the upcoming film.
Despite revealing that she was first involved with the project last September, little was known about Jada Pinkett Smith’s role within the movie.
According to the International Business Times, the film’s stars made a surprise appearance onstage at the Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this past Tuesday (April 21). The publication reports that in addition to breaking out into the beginning of a strip routine, the cast, consisting of Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez, Joe Manganiello and Kevin Nash, also premiered a new trailer for the forthcoming picture. Reportedly, the sequel to the 2012 hit movie has given Jada a “lead” role.
“This game is evolve or die,” Pinkett’s character says to the boys in the trailer. “Let’s see if there is still magic in that Mike.”

In addition to Jada Pinkett Smith, Childish Gambino, Michael Strahan, Elizabeth Banks, Gabriel Iglesias, Andie MacDowell, and Amber Heard are also slated to join the cast, according to IMDB.
Director Greg Jacobs says that once fans see the movie, they’ll understand why they decided to make a sequel.
“It’s a road trip movie, and put it this way: It’s different enough that once you see it you’ll understand why we made a sequel,” Jacobs says, according to Indie Wire. “No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice.”
Stars Channing Tatum and Joe Mangianello recently spoke with HitFix about the movie, promising “more explosions” than in the first film.
Magic Mike XXL is scheduled to be released on July 1.
