During an inaugural season that brought record high ratings, critical acclaim, and some heated debate about how minorities are portrayed on screen,“Empire” trotted out an impressive list of cameos. Juicy J, Snoop Dogg, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, and Gladys Knight were just a few of the stars to appear. At a recent press junket for Motown the Musical, famed singer and writer Smokey Robinson casually dropped some information about a cameo during season two of “Empire.”
“I’m a total ‘Empire’ fan,” Robinson told Billboard. “I’ll probably be on this next season.”
A report on Billboard.com by Gail Mitchell didn’t reveal any additional information about Robinson’s role on season two of “Empire.” Robinson has a handful of acting roles including parts on “Homicide,” and “One On One.” He’s previously played himself on the soap opera “The Young And The Restless” and in the 2006 film, Last Holiday.
“Empire” was renewed for a second season after the show’s second episode; however, no premiere date has been made public.
