The NFL’s trouble with domestic violence continues this offseason with Ray McDonald, a former 49ers defensive tackle who’s currently a free agent.
On Thursday (July 9), McDonald was formally charged with domestic violence and false imprisonment because of an incident involving his ex-fiancée and their 2-month-old, according to the Los Angeles Times. Prosecutors say that McDonald broke into her bedroom at 4 a.m. May 25 and assaulted her. McDonald broke in two days later despite a restraining order.
This isn’t McDonald’s first brush with the law. Last year, he was under investigation for being a possible perpetrator in a San Jose sexual assault. No charges have been brought up in connection to that reported incident.
