Ice Cube might now be a huge movie star and rap veteran, but he still shares the same worries for his children as any minority parent has expressed.

The Straight Outta Compton actor has been doing many interviews to promote the N.W.A. biopic film, but one of his answers during his live Youtube conversation definitely sparked more conversation behind the #BlackLivesMatter movement sweeping the country.

When asked about what he wants children, most especially his own, to have in mind when dealing with police, he responded with a heart-wrenching answer:

“My instructions to all my kids is ‘make it home.’ That’s your only order, and that’s your only instruction. That means do whatever it takes to make it to the house. The fact that we live in a world where we have to remind people that that black lives matter is terrible in itself. I tell my kids, ‘make it home.’ That’s the most important thing. Nothing else matters. Not to me.”

Cube, who sat next to Dr. Dre and DJ Yella during the interview, also talked about how the issues N.W.A. expressed in their music are more relevant to today’s issues than ever.

“Before we came along it was already going on. It was deep in the ghetto back then. We’d go to places (and it would be) ‘Get on the ground! Face down!’ But nowadays, 26 years later, it’s like the same thing still going on. It’s like (F— tha Police) is brand new again.”
