In the early hours of September 7, up-and-coming Detroit rapper and Meek Mill affiliate Dex Osama was shot and killed outside the Crazy Horse strip club in Southwest Detroit. During the weeks that followed, details regarding the fatal incident have remained scare, however two men are now facing charges over his murder.

According to reports on the Detroit Free Press, 46-year-old Otis Davis faces charges of open murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and felony firearm. Dietrick Odums, 31, was charged with assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and felony firearm.

Davis’ defense attorney, Todd Perkins, said it’s too early to comment on a possible defense for his client.

Meanwhile Odums’ attorney, Marlon Evans, said his client didn’t shoot Osama and was “merely present at the scene of the incident.”

Osama’s girlfriend, Chantell Sturdivant, testified during the preliminary examination for the two suspects, which took place this past Friday (October 23). Sturdivant, a worker at the Crazy Horse strip club, says she was preparing to dance for another male prior to the fatal incident but Osama had signaled at her not to do so. When Sturdivant walked up to Osama, he poured champagne on her and told her to get dressed, appearing angry, she testified.

The pair had been dating since April and the night of the killing was the first time Osama had seen her work.

Dex Osama was shot outside the strip club at approximately 1:30 am local time. He collapsed at a nearby gas station and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The case is scheduled to continue on October 30.
