Two Louisiana police officers are facing second degree murder charges in the shooting death of autistic 6-year-old Jeremy David Mardis.

Derrick Stafford and Norris Greenhouse were taken into custody on Friday after allegedly shooting at a vehicle, in which the boy sat. The boy’s father, Christopher Few, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, the 6-year-old died at the scene after suffering gunshot wounds to his chest and head.

Col. Michael Edmonson watched the body camera footage from the scene following the incident and has now provided his take on what happened, stating: “It was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen.” Both Stafford and Greenhouse claim they were attempting to serve a warrant but Edmonson says a warrant was never issued.

The father of the young boy was without a weapon when both officers reportedly fired at least 18 shots at his car. We pray for the Mardis family during this difficult time.
