Gabourey Sidibe is not here for any haters, and we don’t blame her one bit.

The Empire actress has been the topic of conversation, as the popular series’ opened this past week with her and another actor involved in a sex scene.

The steamy scene was pretty raunchy, but was met with memes and jokes on social media very quickly, despite other sex scenes with Naomi Campbell and Taraji P. Henson going unscathed on the web.

Y’all better not come for our girl #GabbySidibe like that!! 😩😩😩 Who watched #Empire tonight!?

During a piece she wrote for Entertainment Weekly, Gabby addresses the criticism on the sex scene, and it looks like her confidence hasn’t been knocked one bit.

She writes, “Also, yes. I, a plus sized, dark-skinned woman, had a love scene on primetime television. I had the most fun ever filming that scene even though I was nervous. But I felt sexy and beautiful and I felt like I was doing a good job. I’m very proud of the work we all did to make that scene a great opening for the episode. I keep hearing that people are “hating” on it. I’m not sure how anyone could hate on love but that’s okay. You may have your memes. Honestly, I’m at work too busy to check Twitter anyway. #Booked. Hope you enjoy next week’s show!”

It’s great to see Gabourey so confident in her skin, and we can’t wait to watch her character develop on Empire.
