More than a year after the death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, footage of the fatal shooting led to an eruption in the streets of Chicago, which included rapper Vic Mensa.

After the horrific video was released, Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel asked for peace in the city’s streets, but that didn’t stop people from protesting and Vic took to social media to show his involvement. He snapchatted last night’s events and tweeted, “We out in downtown Chicago right now. I just got hands put on me by police. We want justice for Laquan and we want justice for our people.

Fellow Chicago emcee Chance the Rapper, who was just named Chicagoan of the year, offered words via twitter, simply saying “Be Strong Chicago.”
