Wendy Williams Leaving WBLS For TV
Wendy Williams, whose booming personality has made her a fixture – and occasionally the center of scandal – on city radio for 20 years, is leaving her long-time home at WBLS (107.5 FM) for a new love: television.
She will do her last WBLS show on July 31, she said last night. The announcement follows the strong debut July 13 of her new syndicated TV program, “The Wendy Williams Show.” It is seen locally at 10 a.m. daily on Ch. 5.

At WBLS, where Williams’s afternoon show and morning host Steve Harvey sparked a major ratings resurgence several years ago, Vice President and General Manager Deon Levingston said, “We are saddened to lose one of our most popular personalities, but we understand what it requires to put a live show on television.
