Barely a month after President Obama revealed Kendrick Lamar‘s “How Much a Dollar Cost” was his favorite song of 2015, the two finally got the chance to hang out in the Oval Office.

Just let that sink in.

K.Dot took a trip to the White House in support of the Pay It Forward program, which encourages the mentoring of inner city kids. During the sit-down, the two spoke on the issues plaguing America, but more importantly, focused on the solutions.

I look at where I’m at today and realize that most of my success is owed to the mentors that was in my life. I sat down with President Barack Obama and shared the same views. Topics concerning the inner cities, the problems, the solutions, and furthermore embracing the youth, both being aware that mentoring saves lives,” he revealed in a recent webisode.

Rightfully, Kendrick was nervous as the meeting began, and President Obama broke the ice by saying, “Can you believe that we’re both sitting in this Oval Office?

The vignette is straight to the point, but so necessary to show just how far two men can come in two vastly different ways – two Black men who both have similar visions for the world.

The Dave Meyers and Little Homies-directed video promotes the White House’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative. You can learn more about the inspiring program here.
