Michael Jordan Took A Stand Against North Carolina’s Anti-LGBT Law
Michael Jordan recently spoke out against North Carolina’s Anti-LGBT law. No, that’s not a typo. Michael Jordan, who is notorious for keeping his mouth shut on all things non-basketball related, spoke out in support of a cause he believes in.
“The Charlotte Observer, saying that the Hornets “are opposed to discrimination in any form” and have “always sought to provide an inclusive environment. As has been the case since the building opened, we will continue to ensure that all fans, players and employees feel welcome while at work or attending NBA games and events at Time Warner Cable Arena,” Jordan said.”
There might be a caveat to Michael’s newfound political activism. For one, Charlotte, North Carolina, home of the Michael Jordan owned Charlotte Hornets, is set to host next year’s All-Star weekend. This could be about his own enlightened self-interests. It could also have something to do with the sexuality of his daughter. There’s also a slight chance that after living his entire life without ever addressing controversy, he simply had a change of heart. But it’s more likely that the NBA has made it a point to speak out against the law and he’s just following suit.
Whatever the cause for his decision, it’s great to see him speak out.
