Joe Budden, a noted fan and friend of Drizzy, aired his frustrations with the body of work on his “I’ll Name This Podcast Later” podcast. Two weeks prior to the highly anticipated album’s release, Budden shocked listeners when he pondered if Drake’s music had already peaked. For some it was the harsh truth and for others it was complete blesphemy. But now, it seems like people are hearing Joe Budden out. On Wednesday, Budden previewed a few clips of this week’s podcast episode on Instagram and claimed Drake sounds uninspired.
“I think that that kid on that album that I heard sounds real f-ckin’ uninspired. That’s what I think. I think that that music is real good. You can’t fool a real n-gga…That music sounds good and I enjoyed it…40, you sound amazing. 40 continues to progress. Drake, you do not. I said the other day on this podcast I miss the Drake that starts the waves, not hops on other waves and I’ll say it again: I miss the Drake that pushes the fuckin’ agenda, not lets the agenda push him.” he says.
An impassioned Joe Budden admits that he still thinks the album is good but has failed to learn more about Drake since Take Care, citing his lack of progression as an artist.
