Colin Kaepernick Clarifies His Fidel Castro Comments After Backlash
Colin Kaepernick has been a source of contempt for many who view his National Anthem Protest as disrespectful, and he may have gained a few enemies after Sunday’s game.
The 49ers played against the Miami Dolphins, the home of many Cuban exiles who escaped Fidel Castro‘s rule. To stir up even more controversy, Kaepernick wore a t-shirt depicting a meeting between Castro and Malcolm X. During a teleconference call, the quarterback praised Cuba’s educational system. After plenty of backlash, Kaepernick later clarified his comments.
“I agree with the investment in education. I also agree with the investment in free universal health care as well as the involvement in helping end apartheid in South Africa,” Kaepernick said.
