Touching on the subject of mental health, Wale says he doesn’t like to use the term “mental illness” and prefers to call it mental “wellness.” He also feels that people who have a bad day and say they have anxiety or depression don’t exactly know what it’s really like to suffer from said symptoms. “It’s hard, bro! Like, gathering my thoughts to do something that’s very basic or having breathing complications cause you’re in the grocery store and you know you being followed and you not really in the mood to take pictures, and you thinkin’ about what’s going on with the IRS and your mother and all these other things. These are real things.”
