Over the weekend Nas triumphantly returned to the rap game with release of his 13th album, Kings Disease. For the first time in a decade checked into The Breakfast Club to drop gems and jewels like the Queensbridge Hip-Hop King who he is.
Talking about his career up to this point, linking up with The Firm for his latest album, and revealing his only regret with his Kanye West-produced, Nasir, Nas treats Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy (who he pulled a gun on) to a trip into the cerebral of Nasty Nas.
From confirming a secret music project he’s working on to how Roxanne Shante helped him get on his A-game, Nas becomes an open book (for the most part) and blesses his fans with all kinds of revelations from the gospel of Nasir Jones.

The idea for a Firm reunion actually came from Hit-Boy who suggested AZ hop on a track with Nas. Then G-Code told Nas to hit up Cormega and Foxy Brown to complete the OG foursome rap group. Nas confirmed the already known detail that the original Firm featured Cormega, but after having a fallout, Nature was added to the group.

Touching on his project with Kanye West, Nas says he wished he worked more closely with Kanye for Nasir. But Kanye was working on multiple projects and got the less time with Yeezy. Though he liked the end product, Nas felt it deserved more time between the two on the album.

Though Nas considers Gayle King “cool” and refers to her as a “bright light,” Nas says there’s some things she did that bothered him so he called her out on his record. He does say he knows “she means well.”

Having made some smart investments that helped swell up his bank account, Nas says he got into investing because he “always wanted to be a business man.” As a kid Nas says he was plotting on making a comic business and board game business, so it’s only right he’d eventually fall back into making business moves. That being said, Nas says he doesn’t like people talking about the moves he makes and everyone counting his coins.

Nas confirms that he did once indeed pull a gun on DJ Envy. It was Envy’s fault though. Envy ran up on Nas as a mixtape DJ and said “I got something for you” and went into his bookbag to pull out a mixtape. When he looked up to give Nas his mixtape, Nas had the toast on him ready to blast.

Though he’s referred to himself as a “sugar daddy,” Nas says he’s speaking in past tense and that he’s no longer that kinda man. He does say he used to indulge in that and some of them actually messed with other rappers, but he’s done with that life. Sorry, ladies!

Nas confirms that Roxanne Shante really did roll up on him and say “If you don’t have your sh*t together, I’ma f*ck you up.” Nas obviously got his sh*t together.

Though he has a relationship with Steve Stoute, Nas admits that he fell back from his friendship with Steve when he began working with Jay-Z at the height of their beef. They peace now though.

Nas admits that he was worried about his legacy as far back as before he dropped his sophomore album, It Was Written. It came back later on in his career, but by then he felt solidified enough that he wasn’t too worried about it and kept doing his thing as only he can do.

Though Nas was content with his acting job in the cult classic, Belly, he reveals that Hype Williams would always single him out in-between takes and tell him to “yo dawg, you got to pick it up.” We feel he did a better job in his cameo for In Too Deep. All he did was sell crack, but still. Nas admits though he does like making movies, he doesn’t think he’s cut out to do it regularly.

Nas says that he’s not the type to argue with women when in a relationship and would rather just talk it out. He says his lack of emotion has cost him a few potential relationships as they felt he didn’t care about them. Others understood and accepted he was that kind of person.

Nas remembers that Puff wanted to be his manager when he was signed to Columbia, but his label considered Puff “scary.” He also confirms that he and Big were supposed to do “Gimme The Loot” together but Nas got too high of some chocolate-tie and couldn’t put pen to paper. That being said Nas reveals that he gave up weed for a year, back in ’99.
