Last night, Jay-Z stopped by the Eugene O’Neill theater in New York City for the opening night of the extremely buzzworthy musical, Fela!  Hov, along with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith recently signed on as producers of the play which has critics raving.

The play is based on the story of the life of Fela Kuti, the revolutionary African musician who was a target of the Nigerian government for his radical political views.

This is not Jay’s first time being linked with Fela.  In 2008, DJ Mike Love from Chicago released the critically acclaimed Nigerian Gangster mixtape, mashing up acapella’s from Jay’s American Gangster album with Fela samples.
