When Kelis’ new single “Acapella” leaked last month, we all figured it wouldn’t be long before we heard more news on the “Bossy” singer’s first album since 2006’s Kelis Was Here. Kelis recently announced that she has signed with Will.I.Am’s Will.I.Am Music Group which is distributed by Interscope Records.

“I love that I am now a new part of the Interscope family. 2010 is around the corner and I can’t wait to put out new music and spend time with real music fans on tour again,” Kelis said in a statement.

“Kelis represents the kind of edge that pushes all of us not just musically but stylistically as well. She has always opened new doors for her audience and we’re ready to walk through this next one with her,” offered Will.I.Am.

“Kelis is a true artist and we’re so excited to start this new chapter in her musical life,” stated chairman of Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records.

Kelis’ next album is due to hit stores sometime in 2010 and will be produced by Will.I.Am, David Guetta, and others.
