When Forbes’ “Hip-Hop’s Cash Kings 2010 List” dropped, the fans and critics became enthralled with rapper portfolios. The discussion almost always came back to, “Where are they getting this money?” It’s fair to wonder since sales for music have been on a steady decline and the list is touted as “Highest Paid Rappers” round-up. Hova tops the list, touting the New York club 40/40, Roc-a-Wear and a stake in the future Brooklyn Nets. But most of his dough came from touring along with his $150 million deal with Live Nation-the self-proclaimed largest live entertainment company in the world-a couple of years ago. Considering that Forbes reported that he pocketed 1 million per show during the Blueprint 3 tour, the relationship is working out well.
Every time you sip on some Smirnoff, Guinness or Tanqueray, the bank account of Diageo, the world biggest wine, beer and spirits company, gets a bit fuller. Talk to Diddy for a few minutes and his Ciroc Ultra Premium Vodka is bound to come up. Guess who manufactures Ciroc? Yep, and Diddy gets half the profits.
