DAILY ONE HIT WONDER: Rich Boy "Throw Some D's"
Rich Boy repped his hometown of Mobile, AL when he released his debut single “Throw Some D’s,” an ode to Dayton rims, in 2007.
The song was almost an instant smash and peaked at #6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. He released a follow up single, “Boy Looka Here” that went largely ignored.
“Throw Some D’s” got a new life when Andre 3000 (and some other dudes) jumped on the remix.
Hot 97’s morning DJ Pete Rosenberg got a little internet fame before his gig at the station with his parody of the song, “Throw Some Cheese”
Rich Boy has yet to release anything as catchy as “Throw Some D’s.” That may change soon, as he’s releasing his second album, Resurrected In Diamonds, in 2011.
