I was up early this morning watching cartoons with my kids when I saw the commercial for the G.I Joe movie.  Since they went and put Cobra and company on the big screen it got me to thinking about what 80s shows they haven’t made movies of yet. So far they’d done Transformers, Miami Vice, Inspector Gadget He-Man, Scooby-Doo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a host of others. Plus, I hear that The A-Team, Voltron, Thundercats, 21 Jump Street, Robotech, The Smurfs and Fame are already in the works.  But here are some of my favs from the 80s that I think Hollywood should consider if they run out of ideas…again.

Knight Rider

50 Cent as the new Michael Knight hunting down his Maybach-driving foes in his Ferrari..err..Pontiac.

The Facts of Life

Get Monique to be the new Mrs. Garrett and watch all hell break loose.

227

Tell me Tyler Perry couldn’t make millions doing this?

Benson

David Allen Grier plays the butler who becomes Governor after his boss is caught with a high-priced escort. Hey, it could happen…

Quantum Leap

Back then folks called it a Back To the Future rip-off but I think Edward Norton would rock this today.

McGyver

Imagine what craziness he could do with a broken Blackberry, two Q-tips and a Snuggy?

Married With Children

Comedian Katt Williams as Al Bundy and Lauryn London as Kelly. Wanda Sykes could play Marcey Darcey for so many reasons.

A Different World

Yes, School Daze came out a year after this premiered but I think a 2010 edition of the Hillman kids would kick ass.
