Halloween kicks off early with Universal Pictures The Thing.

In this prequel to the 1982 John Carpenter classic, The Thing stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Kate Lloyd, a paleontologist who travels to the icy barrens of  Antarctica to investigate the discovery of an ancient space ship and alien organism buried under the ice. Unbeknownst to Kate and the rest of the expedition crew, their newfound discovery will literally come back to bite them, as their extraterrestrial visitor turns out  to be a hostile and bloodthirsty shape-shifter.  Director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. dials up the gore and the gross factor as The Thing preys on the doomed crew members, which may leave moviegoers reaching for their Rolaids–or a barf bag.

The Urban Daily caught up with  cast member Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays good-natured helicopter pilot Derek Jameson to chat about his role in “The Thing” and why the movie just might activate your gag reflex.
