Prince's Lesson In Ebonics In "Under The Cherry Moon" [CLASSIC MOMENTS IN BLACK CINEMA]

By most accounts, Prince’s second film, 1986’s Under The Cherry Moon, was a complete disaster.

However, the movie is a favorite amongst die hard Prince fans.

Clearly, it’s little more than a vanity (no pun intended) project filled with many narcissistic moments of Prince posing and mugging for the camera:

But the film isn’t without merits. The film’s many French locations are beautiful, as well as the cinematography itself. It also showcases Prince’s sense of humor, making the otherworldly superstar seem a little more down to earth.

Speaking of down to earth, the film’s most memorable scene involves Prince’s character and Jerome Benton’s character trying to bring Christopher’s spoiled rich girl love interest, future Oscar winner Kristin Scott Thomas in her first film role, “down to our world” by giving her a crash course in ebonics.
