In a perfect world, Janelle Monae would render Lady Gaga obsolete.
I hate trailers for music videos and albums, mainly because they’re pretty unimaginative and uninteresting. Fortunately for Janelle Monae, Diddy’s spending money on her project, and she used that money to create this simple yet compelling visual for her upcoming album, The ArchAndroid.
I had the pleasure of seeing Janelle Monae in concert this past weekend at Joe’s Pub in NYC and her stage show falls right in line with this trailer – very theatrical. The theatrical nature is very appropriate seeing as how her new album continues the story of her Cindy Mayweather character that began on her 2008 EP, Metropolis: The Chase.
The ArchAndroid hits stores on May 18th!
