After watching several of the original survivors fall prey to bloodthirsty zombies on season two of the ghoulish hit TV drama The Walking Dead, we’re thankful that the lone black guy on the show T-Dog (IronE Singleton) hasn’t met the same fate.

As we gear up to the season finale this Sunday, we’ve come up with five ways T-Dog could endure another round of zombie massacres next season (provided he makes it through Sunday):

Keep your mouth shut. No more preaching about being left behind and out of safety just because you’re black. You’re the only black dude on the show, so no one there can even comprehend your argument, but would be the first to consider you a threat for it. Keep talking and you will get left behind, like Sophia. And we all know what happened to her.

Make sure that when you aim to kill, the target is actually a walker. Remember when you almost beat the living daylights out of Daryl just because he was walking a little sluggish? That energy could have been better well spent on a wild-eyed zombie. Keep your eyes open and remain alert.

Maintain your low-profile. While many fans are complaining about your random absences from various scenes, know that you have one fan who ain’t mad at your game. That peekaboo act where you randomly disappear for twenty minutes in an episode only to reappear just in time to participate in a vicious group kill, duck back out, then later be seen comfortably mingling with the others? Swag for days. Keep that going. That’s how you stay alive.

Stay with your group. Regardless of where you’re at when you vanish mid episode, you’re smart about not being seen alone without at least one other member of your group. Notice what happens when folks brave the forest by themselves? They often later end up as warm meals for zombies. Leave that kind of blind heroism to little Carl, who’s often abandoned, misguided, and begging to be walker bait.

Don’t get caught up in all the drama. Just kill some zombies, stay nourished and—frankly—out of Rick’s way. We’ve all learned what happened when folks continue to press Rick’s buttons (with his fragile state of mind these days), so it would be best if you don’t excite him too much. You’ve got your own life to worry about, so whenever your opinion is being asked for just go with the general consensus. Rebels don’t fare too well on the show.

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9pm on AMC.
