“Friday Night Lights” Star Joins Cast Of “Othello”

Gaius Charles (“Friday Night Lights”), Saidah Arrika Ekulona (“Ruined”) and Jessica Chastain are among the actors who will appear with Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz in the “Othello” this fall.

The cast — including Liza Colon-Zayas, LeRoy McClain and Julian Acosta — starred in the Peter Sellars-directed production in Vienna in June, and will reprise their roles in New York in a short run presented by the Public Theater.

Ortiz plays Othello to Hoffman’s Iago in the show, with Chastain cast as Desdemona.

The production runs Sept. 12-Oct. 4 at the New York U.’s Skirball Center.
