Do you know what I never understand about relatives who publicly complain about their famous kin not reaching out to him? If you’re intention is to mend fences, why sell a story to a tabloid that ultimately makes that celebrity look back, resulting in an even more strained relationship? Silly me, I keep thinking it’s actually about that. It’s more along the lines of, “Well, hell, X ain’t about to invite us for Thanksgiving, might as well might some Butterball money this way.”

Enter Jamie Foxx’s family talking to the National Enquirer about him purportedly refusing to see his dying dad — who had no hand in raising him.

Eh, read it and weep (or not):

Jamie’s 74-year-old father is said to be devastated because the Oscar-winning actor has repeatedly rebuffed efforts to patch up the feud. “We’ve called Jamie several times over the years and left hundreds of messages,” the actor’s stepmother Hellema Abdullah told The ENQUIRER.

“But he has never returned our calls. Now his father is sick with severe scar tissue on his lungs and has to be on oxygen every day. I just wish Jamie would call.” Jamie’s parents, Darrell Bishop and Louise Annette Talley, were very young when he was born. Overwhelmed, they decided to let Louise’s parents adopt him, and he was raised in a strict Christian home. Meanwhile, Louise and Darrell broke up and later remarried other partners.

Jamie’s father converted to Islam, changing his name to Shaheed Abdullah, and for a while the star had minimal contact with him.

“Jamie had kept in periodic contact with his father because his grandmother who raised him had encouraged it,” revealed an insider. “But he hasn’t spoken to him since his grandmother died in 2004. Jamie doesn’t plan on calling Shaheed anytime soon. He’s getting revenge by abandoning his father, much like his dad did to him years ago.”

The pain of being given away by his biological parents was evident when Jamie, 45, told an interviewer: “I still ask myself why they didn’t want me. Maybe they weren’t ready to raise a child. Was it too inconvenient? I lived just up the street from them. I’ll never understand it.”
