Olivia shouldve been working with REAL R&B writers, and producers instead of trying to be considered “G-Units” Thug singer..MAYBE, jus maybe that wouldve helped..cos the girl for all her “looks” and short comings..she had a lil talent dawg…Peace..

Honestly, having Olivia added to his brand. It spreaded it. How is he complaining about a song when he does those types of songs on every album? 50 is just not willing to spend money on his artists. That may prove that he doesn’t pay his artist well like has been said in the past. Olivia was paying off when it came to “Candy Shop” so why when it came to her project, is her acting like he was spending so much. The nigga’ got way more than 2 mil on “Candy Shop.” He just doesn’t want to help anyone but himself.
He has loyalty issues. He always sh!ting on his artists! Stop making excuses wy your artist don’t sell! They are wack,get artist that have originality and star quality! Not your friends and jumpoffs. Olivia started out on J.Records. J.records is the home of Monica, Alicia Keys, Whitney, etc. They dont hire you if you dont have talent. I was impressed with her rapping and singing on her first CD, and i knew that she has ruined her career when she switched over to G-unit. They didn’t take her for what she was; they tried to make her the next Ciara,that’s what killed her career. She can sing her @ss off though, and i love that song she had with Avant.
Ok I grew up in queens ny and know many people who went to Bayside HS with Olivia (Bayside is something like a performing arts school). Now I’ve personally never heard her sing live, but from what her classmates used to say was she was a crater face with minimal talent and she sure as hell wasn’t a rapper. Many people were very surprised because she wasn’t anyone you would even think to have that “it” factor. 50 was stupid to put 10,000 into her let alone 2mil. You know he thpought his name behind her would give her automatic success…. but not pretty (debateable) face and good voice (also debateable) gives u beyonce!

Her first (pre-50)CD was OK. She can sing. If anything the “rap chick” image fukked her up AND everybody’s not going to be a platinum artist.
I dont care bout all that I still like 50, because hes says what he wants to say and dont care what anybody thinks about it and bottom line is, if she was talented enough she would have done a lil better. She was ok but I could never c her on Beyonce level, why, because she just doesn’t have what it take. thats just my opinion.

I was in LOVE with Olivia’s first cd (Pre-G-Unit)..I had waited for years to hear from her again then she joins G-Unit and I lost complete interest. She had so much talent and potential but she threw away her career by joining. I guess the plan didn’t come into fruition..we all make mistakes I guess. I hope she comes out with something in the future.

In an industry like the music industry, part of marketing is putting yourself out there. I mean, sure…you got your street team and dj’s and people of that nature. But really listen to what 50 says in the interview with Ms. Torres…You can’t come in the game as a rookie, expecting to get veteran benefits. The people he compared her to are vets to the game…simple as that. Maybe she’ll bugdet better this next go round, because as an artist, I think she is very well rounded and I would love to see her come out with something new.

That make perfect sense cause it like paying dues to get to the superstar level. Lets face it the music business is a complex business if don’t know what you are doing. You can have all the dream team you want, but at the end of the day when all that investment is out there and nothing is coming back in the bank then this is why they don’t last long.

It’s still business…if you have too many entries to the market and don’t know how to market someone its going to be difficult to grab a fan base…she never morphed into her own artist like Jay-Z eventually did w/Rihanna. She had nothing differentiating her from all these other artists and never had a bangin hit for any1 to know her for. Look at Lady Gaga..now she kickin it with the likes of Jay-Z, Be, and Kanye..she literally popped out of nowhere..but her marketing and style was genius and different, we needed some crazy weird s**t out there, and we bought into it! I’m not expert, but it didn’t have to take 2mill if it was done in the right way- personally I think it would still b a bad time for her to enter the game..if she can’t offer anything different than Bey or Keisha Cole, then what do u have to bring to the table??
