“The Help” Cleans Up After Hurricane Irene
Much of the east coast is a mess after Hurricane Irene, but that didn’t stop the maids of “The Help” from cleaning up at the box office. For the second week in a row, ‘The Help’ was No. 1, with an estimated $14.3 million, fending off newcomers ‘Colombiana,’ ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ and ‘Our Idiot Brother.’
After three weeks in theaters The Help has raked in $96 Million and is still playing on more screens than any of the newcomers. Zoe Saldana’s first starring role brought in modest returns with Colombiana earning $10. 3 Million to open at #2.
