Elmo Puppeteer Accused Of Sexual Misconduct, Denies Allegations
Kevin Clash, the Sesame Street puppeteer who voices Elmo, has taken a leave of absence after a 23-year-old man came forward claiming to have had sex with Clash when he was 16.
According to TheHollywoodReporter, Sesame Workshop investigated the matter and “found the allegation of underage conduct to be unsubstantiated.” But they disciplined Clash for violating company policy regarding internet usage.
Clash is now on leave of absence to address the allegations and any possible legal action he may take.
The puppeteer came to national prominence when the documentary “Being Elmo” won a Special Jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and he was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey.
