Skillz Does A “Sports Rap-Up 2013” For ESPN [VIDEO]
For the last decade one of hip-hop’s finest, Skillz, has been recapping the year in music for our listening enjoyment. In 2013 the folks at ESPN tapped the talented lyricist to recap what was quite an eventful year filled with both tragedy and triumph.
Skillz takes Michael Smith and Jemele Hill’s segment Numbers Never* Lie and reminds of things we probably forgot like the Lance Armstrong doping confession the Super Bowl blackout and Kevin Ware’s gruesome leg break. ESPN must have asked him to keep it mostly positive because the Blade Runner murder was a punchline waiting to happen.
Watch and listen below and keep an ear out for his hip-hop rap-up that will be worth it for his assessment of the Kendrick Lamar “Control” moment alone.
