Any avid watcher of “The View” knows about co-host Sherri Shepherd’s cheating husband and the fact that he fathered a child with his mistress.

Beginning this fall, a fictionalized version of the ongoing ordeal will be played for primetime laughs thanks to the Lifetime cable network, which gave the comedy pilot a 12-episode pickup.

The sitcom, titled “Sherri,” is loosely based on her experience as a single mom, paralegal and actress who deals with her husband’s infidelity by allowing his girlfriend and their child to move in with them.

The cast also includes Tammy Townsend (“Lincoln Heights”), Kali Rocha (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Elizabeth Regen (“The Black Donnellys”) and Kate Reinders (“Ugly Betty”). A premiere date has yet to be announced.

“Sherri” was one of three comedy pilots Lifetime was considering, along with “Alligator Point,” starring Cybill Shepherd, and an untitled project starring Valerie Bertinelli. With the order for “Sherri,” the other two are not going forward.

The series will begin filming in New York in August, and will not affect her work on “The View.”
