Jackie Robinson didn’t die for this. Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke hit the Padres Carlos Quentin in the shoulder with a pitch during the sixth inning. Instead of taking his base, Quentin charged the mound and tackled the 2009 AL Cy Young Award winner to the ground.

The ensuing brawl cleared the team benches and at least one player was ejected. Evidently this was not the first time Greinke had hit Quentin with a pitch. There were two separate instances when the players were in the American League.
“I never hit him on purpose,” said Greinke, who had his left arm in a sling and appeared shaken after the game. “I never thought about hitting him on purpose. He always seems to think that I’m hitting him on purpose, but that’s not the case. That’s all I can really say about it.”
