If you’ve noticed the NBA fans in your household doing their best Rip Van Winkle impressions of late, you are not alone. Ratings for the 2013 playoffs are the lowest they’ve been in years thanks to a rash of injuries to major market stars and prime time teams getting bounced early.

Since ABC began airing the NBA Finals in 2003, their three lowest-rated series all involved the San Antonio Spurs, a great team that is just boring to watch. In fact, the two lowest-rated NBA Finals of all time have come in the last decade and involved the Spurs: 2003 vs the Nets (6.5 rating) and 2009 vs the Cavaliers (6.2 rating, the lowest of all-time).

The Spurs currently have a 2-0 lead against an equally flash-deficient team, the Memphis Grizzlies. The winner of that series will face either the Indiana Pacers or the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat.

However, if you diehard NBA fans need some help staying awake, here are five snacks that should help you in overtime.

Breyer’s Fruit Topping

Skip the ice cream and just consume the liquified sugar straight up and wait for the buzzing in the back of your skull.

Pop Tarts

This convenient, glucose rich snack works right out of the box or heated in a toaster if you are so inclined.

Drumsticks

If you’re watching the game in your backyard on your tablet keep this cool snack within arm’s reach.

Frozen Fruit Bars

For the more health conscious (or lactose intolerant) you can get your sugar kick without the added calories.

Iced Coffee

No need to brew it and chill it. This comes right out of the carton. An i.v. is optional. Happy game watching!
